Powerbelt Question

I clean my flinter ever time i shoot it. If i don't shoot it i pull the bullet, and dump the powder. I shoot 295gr. hollow point powerbelts. My extractor screws right in to the hollow point and the bullet comes right out. Most of the time the green gas seal stays in the barrel and i have to extract it. again it is hollow and screws right on the extractor. i can slip the gas seal right back on the bullet. Are they ok to use again? Anyone know? I have about 5 of them now. thanks! WF

I've done exactly the same thing, in my bore just as yours, the plastic stays in the barrel. The extractor screw slightly enlarges the hole in the plastic as you screw it in, then the plastic doesn't hold onto the bullet as well or in some cases not at all. If you reload the used powerbelt I have found the bullet EASILY detaches from the plastic and slides forward, not a good thing!

I just did it 2 days ago, tilted the barrel down and I heard the bullet sliding down the barrel and it fell right out, plastic still intact on top of the powder. I re-use them as fouling shots, insert the plastic with bullet ensuring they are seated against powder. Without any bumping or tilting the barrel down I shoot them as a reduced load fouling shot.

My buddy shot one sat night and we found the green gas seal lodged up in the chest cavity but the bullet was missing with no exit hole which we thought was odd!

This might be off topic but did anyone else experience little or no blood trails while using powerbelts?

I shot one that i couldn't find any blood at all. I thought i hit her just from the way she acted, but there was no blood trail. She jumped over a small log about 20yds from where she was when i shot. I looked all over the area and didn't see any blood. I walked a little past that log and could see her white belly laying up ahead of me. she went about 60-70yds total! my shot went in behind her left shoulder and lodged in the right shoulder blade. No exit hole, and the entry hole was about half way up height wise. She was full of blood.

How far away was your buddys deer? Maybe the gas seal came off as the bullet went in.

Ive used 295gr hollow point Powerbelts and with 100 gr of 777 or Pyrodex in an inline there was plenty to follow. I actually used 150gr of 777 by mistake and about blew the rib cages into oblivion!!

I killed 3 with my Firestorm, while using 245 grain Powerbelt aerotip, this year. All three were killed in the snow. The first went about 50 yards and was double lung. No blood for the first 40 yards. The other 2 were marginal shots (single lung, liver) and the blood trail was nearly non-existant. I like Powerbelts, but I am switching to the hollow points. I would think a deer hit with anything 245 grains would bleed everywhere, but I was proven wrong on 3 occasions in the past 2 weeks.

guys, you're getting off topic. he asked if he could re-use the pulled bullet and skirt. answer is yes from those who have done it. Another way to do it is to get one of the co2 dischargers. That way the bullet will come out with the skirt attatched. You may lose the powder though.
