Have limited range time to get this dialed in for for my brother to use for a few days after Christmas, then I plan on giving it to him before he leaves. He has used other flinters of mine over the years so he can shoot them, I just want to have this one set up for him so we can start hunting on late season opener. This is the newer ultralight model with the 1:28 twist barrel. I understand load developement with flinters just looking for loads others may be using as a starting place to expedite the process. Thanks
70 grains of 3f or 80 grains of 2f behind a .44 caliber 240 grain hornady xtp with the green sabot..might not be where you finish but it's a good place to start👍👍
Thanks guys, the 1:28 twist in a flinter is a new one for me as my other flinters are slow twists and i use conicals or PRBs and I run blackhorn 209 and Harvester Sabretooths in my inline. I have some 44 cal xtps in my reloading stuff but will hafta look for appropriate sabots. Trying to avoid Powerbelts as i have had poor results in the past with them as far as bloodtrails.
In fact, you'll still get best results with real black powder.
