if their parents had any common sense i would respect them. giving children these types of names sets them up to be bullied. the children are not at fault here, but the parents are. names like this will cause all kinds of problems.
the people in the above link were wrong, but its the mothers fault as this would not have happened if the child had a regularly spelled name. there are children going thru this life with names like Lemonjello and Orangejello (la-mon-ja-lo) and (Or-ran-ja-lo) lets see if i can get this one across with out it being censored. the name is pronounced (sha-heet-head) and it is spelled Sh**head...
At least tell the story right. She didn't know they were VDs. She saw the words while in the hospital and thought they were pronounced sa-PHIL-iss and gon-OR-ea.
My wife was an RN for over 30 years. When she worked at the Reading Hospital she had a minority patient who named her baby Clitoris because she liked the way it sounded. The nurses on the floor tried to talk her out of doing it to no avail. How would you like to be that girl growing up with that name?
Again, get it right. The mother thought someone named her baby fa-MOLLY when she saw the card in the nursery.
With the amount of people that pass these stories along (I can't be the only one who's heard all three of these multiple times) all over the country, wouldn't you think you'd have come across a person named Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Clitoris, or Female by now? You haven't, because they aren't true.

I would say a minority of all people use these names. Why are you hung up on the word minority. Seems you are the first to bring up a race or color. Me I still think it is silly. Waugh!
Nothing racist about me...just pointing out the stupidity with the way folks are naming their children. the link i provided was about a white...UH, excuse me...non minority family. i got the original 4 name list from a facebook video done by a black..oops..African American male who cant understand whats going on with his own race and others with this name thing.
you can try and label me a racist for pointing this out, thats OK, i expect that from certain types of people and thats OK too.
I don't need to label you, you made it clear with your blanket statement. If you were simply pointing out stupid names, it was unnecessary to use the term minority. It doesn't matter that a black man made the original statement. He was likely fishing for "likes" and "views," and it was ignorant of him to make a blanket statement about a race for that purpose. By the way, your "original" video is about a year older than the first story you linked.
If one truly wants to know why a person gives their child a unique name, or gives a common name an uncommon spelling, ask that person. Don't actually know anyone who named their child this way? There have been plenty of papers and articles written by learned people of all races on the topic of naming children.
Haha, right on...Diva Thin Muffin is another Zappa. Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter Apple. Bruce Willis's children Rumer and Tallulah. Creative types, these parents were. Not ALL celebrities though...:wink2:
Jim Hogg, governor of Texas in the late 1800 named a daughter Ima. legend says another daughter was named Ura but that is false.
Even supposedly smart and well off parents are guilty of saddling their kids with ridiculous names
One thing that I do find annoying is I think a lot of parents name their kids weird names not so much because they’re in love with the name but they want to be unique and different. There is a pretentiousness behind it as if they are too good to have a more common name that someone else’s kid may have. The “look at me generation” . We’re special and everyone wishes they had our lives. We dress better than everyone else, we’re better looking than all of you and we make the most money. Therefore our children need to have names that will reflect our uniqueness and lifestyle that our neighbors and friends envy. There is absolutely a segment of society that falls into this category and it couldn’t be more different than how I am and my view on life in general.
Isn't that kinda like the baby boomer generation running around bragging up every grand child and how great they are???
I am not saying your wrong I just think the generation/group of folks that tend to do this don't have the ability to brag the kid up in different ways.
No different than posting pictures of your son "hunter" age 5 with his deer, bear and turkey taken with his 30 06 and 10 ga. Waugh!
