How many times have your heard that one? I laugh at the novice clods who repeat it every year. I've been hearing that for decades. It hasn't happened yet......

Corn is the original "Power Bait".....:)

Oh I don't know, I actually like creamed corn once in a while. My wife too likes to make corn as a side for dinner an awful lot. Sometimes I eat it, sometimes I don't. But for trout bait there's nothing better, at least for the stockies. Now native trout that's another story.

Cope's corn is really delicious, and creamed corn is ok too, but the other stuff is pretty lame. Frozen's better, fresh the best!! Never use it for trout bait; no idea why. Maybe this year??

For stocked fish, there's nothing better. Figure, they're raised on some kind of processed meal or whatever it is that humans feed them. When in the stream, the sight and sounds of all the bait hitting the water is like ringing the dinner bell. The yellow color attracts them I'm convinced of that. The first bait of the season for me is always corn. Some of these kids see me catching fish and they think I've got some kind of super bait. When I show them what I'm using, they usually laugh.. But I'm the one catching fish they're not.
