Guys and gals, our NEPA RGS Chapter will be having a Habitat Work Day on SGL 219 by Little Meadows, PA on Saturday, April 2. We'll be working from approximately 9:00 to 2:00ish. Meeting place TBD.
Guys, we will probably either meet at the bank in Little Meadows or at the PGC building at Reagan Hill Rd/ Coburn Road intersection on SGL 219. Most likely meeting at 8:00-8:30. The plan is to work from 9:00 until about 2:30. I will post here when the details are finalized.
Anything more concrete on the meeting place? Reason I'm asking is that it looks like it's a good 2.5hr ride for me and I've never been there before so if I drive that far I'd like to know exactly where to meet & when.
Also, being as it's that far and we'd be there most of the day I might have to bring my dog along (he'd be crated while we're working) so is that okay? Then I could hopefully get him a decent run somewhere when we're finished.
Time and place is set for this Saturday, 4/2. Meet 9:00 at the PGC building at the intersection of Reagan Hill Rd and Coburn Rd on SGL 219. Bring your dog if you want. As long as he/she is comfy you should be fine. Besides, you can look for woodcock afterwards!! If you need a point man to get in to the building, I can meet you at the bank in Little Meadows (don't blink or you'll be through Little Meadows) around 8:30. Maybe TIMBERDOODLE will meet us there too?
I'll be at the PGC bldg. if I'm coming.. Sent you a pm concerned with the weather forecast at the moment.
Saturday 04/02 50% / 0.06 in
Considerable cloudiness with occasional rain showers. High near 50F. Winds WSW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 50%. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
Saturday Night 04/02 60% / < 1 in
Rain and snow showers in the evening transitioning to mainly snow showers late. Becoming windy. Low 26F. Winds W at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of precip 60%. Snow
little too much wind for felling trees. If it changes I'll be there
Thanks, right now I'm 99% sure I'm coming and I think I can just meet you guys easy enough at the PGC building. I don't have a chainsaw right now to bring (no chaps either) so I'll just bring my work gloves and hardhat.
What's the best way to get up there. I figured head up 81 and get off an exit up north there but I googled the directions and they have me getting off in the Wilkes-Barre area and then heading north.
Ryan take a look at 81 to Binghampton NY, 17 West from there to Appalachin exit or Owego exit. Might be easiest for you sir.
Use the pgc mapping for the game lands and go to streets, a This gamelands is right on the NY Border, The Montrose Tpke runs from Owego NY right thru the gamelands and very close to the PGC bldg. where the meet is.
From the Appalchin exit off 17 take Pennsylvania Ave to Little Meadows Bank.
I would follow Tom's directions. You can do that or meet me at our place at 7:30. If you use the direction on www.rockmountainclays.com and decide whether you want to follow me up from Springville or head right there from your home.

I don't know, 2 horse and buggies could pass going opposite directions. That would classify it as a "Turnpike"!! Make sure you have proper change for those old soup cans nailed to the trees!!
Hey guys, I just realized I left my darn hardhat at work. Not sure if it's required but I'm looking for a spare here at my house, no luck do far. If someone can bring an extra I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
It was great to meet you to and the other new faces along with a couple familiar ones. I never heard either grouse (after you left we heard 2 of them going back and forth) drum again after everybody left but Quade had two hard false points near each area we heard them from. I think with the doors slamming shut they might've flushed out of there. He was birdy as heck though in both areas.
Found a gravestone along Coburn Hill Road that was from a Revolutionary War soldier, Sgt Clement Corbin of the 11th Regiment of the Connecticut, who lived from 1733-1825. 92yrs! Did some driving around and then took the long way home for a beautiful drive.
High winds here too today and we had 2-3" snow last night. That was our heaviest snowfall of the winter and it was April 3!!!!!
Phil Kasper told me we cleared 2 acres of trees. I will post pics here when I have them.
It's always a good day when we can get conservation groups together and work for the same object- HABITAT!!!! Good time seeing Tom and Ryan again and of course, the rest of the cast of RGS, QDMA and NWTF characters!!
