Just bought a crossbow. Wondering what the best type of target to practice with is?

I have just ordered "The Bone Collector 400 F.P.S. Target by Morrell". If you check Amazon.com and do a search for "Morrell Archery Targets" you will see this one with lots of reviews and several using the Barnett Ghost 410. It is field point only. I have several crossbow targets and find some very hard to remove arrows (carbon especially). Carbon generates heat and bonds to the foam in the target. I have since gone back to the old style Easton 2219 XX75 and 2219 XX78, which are very hard to come by these days. I use the "Allen" gripper and just recently ordered the Hamskea Arro-Jak for the very hard to remove arrows. I purchased the target from American Whitetail which has the removable insert for field point and with the other insert one can shoot broad heads. Field points can be shot all four sides and the core insert can be gradually rotated. With the broad head core insert, one shoots from the one end of it. I also have the Bull Dog Plus which is field point only.
My recommendation for whatever target you purchase, after sighting your crossbow in at say 20 yards, set the target at a minimum of 30 or more yards. The higher the feet per second the farther you want it for the crossbow. For my Barnett Ghost 410, I recommend a minimum of 40 yards. Shooting closer quickly destroys any target. You want a tough target to stop the arrows, yet want to be able to remove them. This is why I ordered the Hamskea Arro-Jac. I do a lot of target shooting, both crossbow and compound bow. All the best.

I have the block crossbow, going on 3 seasons shooting broadheads into it mostly. The centers are shot out but you have more small targets on each sides. I have the 1 side 4 circles bout shot out too. I put a small crosshairs with red electric tape on the target where its still solid. $100.00 plus target i want to get much out of it as i can.

As for removing the crossbow carbon arrows from my target. I stand it up and pull arrows upward. The Block Crossbow target you can shoot field point and broadheads. I shoot field points into it while sighting in. Then i practice with shooting broadheads. Fixed blades...

I have a Delta McKenzie Shot block that I also use as a discharge bag and a Delta McKenzie Pinnacle grazing deer 3D target.

On the bag target I only use field tips but the Pinnacle I use the hunting, practice tips.
Both targets hold up well, but I like the bag target since it has smaller targets on the side to hone in your POI. I will not use practice hunting tips since they will jam up inside the target and you will pull the stuffing out pulling them out.
The bag target is rated for up to 360 FPS

I bought two new targets for my Xbow. Both Morrel, Vital sign double duty. This target is awesome for the ease of removing bolts, with field tips only. The other is the Double Duty Broadhead target. This is the hardest target to remove bolts with broadheads! But its a bit easier as long as you use the practice blades and not the real ones. Must be something with the speed of the bolts, and the sharp blades. Like its melting to the broadhead.
