After an unsuccessful hunt in 2011,My second dalls sheep hunt is now complete , this time a success beyond my wildest dreams. 42 inch ram 14 years old. A Boone and crocket contender. Pics and story will follow when my buddy posts the pics.

Congrats on a super ram . . . I got my Dall ram in 2009 and it is still hard to believe sometimes that it really happened. However, the full-size body mount in the living room is proof that it did indeed happen. Those 9 days in the Wrangell mountains of Alaska were both hard and wonderful. You will relive those days in your mind forever.

So so as soon as we spot this ram my guides whole dimeanor changes . He tells me this is a $100,000 ram and I say what's that mean. He proceeds to tell me that his first client of the year was on the Yukon Ministers Tag (Canada's equal to Governers tag in the US) that the first clients goal was to shoot a North American slam of sheep and they all had to be Boone and Crocket .SO he bought the tag to hunt some special unit in the Yukon known for booners at the price of 100,000 bucs to shoot his Dalls. Anyways he tells me this ram was a sheep of that caliber and on normal public ground. So we decide that although not an easy stalk we need to try, In the 6 hrs it took to get into shooting range he keeps saying you have no idea what you are about to accomplish if we shoot this ram . So after we shoot him he's really excited and when we get it back to camp EVERYONE is excited and keep sayin you have no idea how big this sheep is . And I finally say you're right explain it to me . And Here is the good part and this is what they tell me I am no expert I am only happy to shoot a legal ram since I had to do two hunts to kill my sheep . So they put the tape on him he green scores at 173 inches 170 is BC,after drying and accounting for tape stretch due to excitement he should be about 171 only in by an inch . Then they tell me that the dalls sheep is the hardest to make the book because they broom and generally don't have the mass to make up for the loss of inches . With that said they tell me that a dall sheep is only entered in the book every few years. Then they tell me that he will probably be the biggest sheep shot in the Yukon this year and if not the best in the country definatly in the top 3 . By this time I'm in disbelief and I say REALLY? They say yep he is the dalls sheep equal to a 200 in whitetail . He is a really special ram a ram of a lifetime . By the way in case your wondering he is bigger than the ram the guy who bought the ministers tag shot ...we are waiting the 60 day drying period and in the meantime he is already writing an article for the FNAWS sheep magazine. I'm still having a hard time believing that this is that big of a ram .

Tundragiz he's at least 13 he has rings after the 13 th annuli but they were not sure if he was 14 . Some of them counted 14 . The final detrmination will be made at the fish and game check in. I will get the report when my horns and cape arrive next week their taxidermist cleaned everything for shipping and got them checked . We hunted 30 miles north of Whitehorse in the sothern lakes region . We trailed 34 miles in off of the Alaska Canada highway on horseback 7 hrs day 1 and 8.5 day 2 .then2 days of rest until the season began . Shot the ram on day 5 just hours before my 46th birthday .

HOLY COW! What an awesome ram. Truly one of the most beautiful animals on the planet. After hunting them unsuccessfully above Denali with Max Schwab last August I can truly appreciate what you did. I'm not looking forward to those brutal mountains again but that critter makes a man do crazy things. Who did you hunt with and what kind of mount are you getting? Congrats on an INCREDIBLE trophy!

Big 28 I'm getting full mount laying down. BubbaBuck , 300 win mag REM 700. I missed him twice at 300 and after adjusting my hold for the STEEP 60 degree angle ( I held dead on instead of low )I hit him twice right behind the shoulder at about 260. Got it all on film except the wrangler was on the wrong sheep until he was tumbling . But you can hear everything and what he has is good
