Tough Times on the Farm

Went out to the family farm to help with some hay yesterday and well things didn't exactly go as planned. The tongue bolt on the hay wagon, which was completely filled, snapped while my great uncle was turning the load around...the wagon obviously broke free at the top of the hill and gravity took over.

The wagon picked up speed quickly and headed towards the road...the side the wagon was careening down has about an 8 foot bank. The wagon actually jumped the road, smashed through the fence and ended up in the pasture.

So we were able to unload the hay and pull the wagon out and will eventually get it back on some wheels.

The path of destruction:

All being said, the wagon missed the tree, missed any fenceposts, and missed the powerline pole...for a bad situation, it turned out about as best it could have. No injuries and no major damage.

After all the commotion, when I went up to take pictures at the top of the field and this lady was out eating our soybeans!

Certainly can relate to that. Had a bean roto mist on top of a 300 gallon tank on a pull behind trailer spraying Christmas trees on the side of a hill. Went over a rock with the tractor and off hitch it went. Operator bailed out and luckily wasn't hurt but the rotomist was nothing but parts. years later can only laugh about it but at the time wasnt funny at all. The path through the corn reminded me of the swath through the trees.
