I have a savage 340 D in 222. It is in normal used shape and has an old bushnell scope on it. What would the trade in value be on a $600 new gun. I also have two extra clips.
Trade in as in a gun shop you would be lucky to get 150.00 I just sold one in 22 hornet for 300 privately my guess is you would do much better to sell privately.

This for sure. I also have a Hornet, I think they are a little more desireable than the 222 also. I see the 222's selling for $250-300 range often. A shop will give you 60% roughly.
Sell it yourself, put the proceeds toward the new one.
If it tickles someone, you may get $300, probably a little less, but still much better than trading.
you won't like what they'll offer i'll bet. thats a $250-300 retail gun. they'll offer $75-125 i bet. they are good guns but not much of a market these days.
I tried to buy one in 30-30 at the last gun show I was at about a month ago,and the seller would not budge off of $350.He kept it.I would have paid $275.
I know where there are 2 of these in 222 and 1 in 30/30 right now in a small local gun shop and they are all 3 priced at 249.99 and have all 3 been there since early summer. Good little rifles, just not worth much. I bought mine at a gun auction about 2 years ago for $160, and it is in really nice shape. Like was already said the ones in 22 hornet are usually worth around the $300 mark.
