Here are a couple videos from the first day of grouse. Ruger is the dog, my 2 1/2 year old Britt who finished his master hunter in the spring. Nothing better than being in the mountains with your buddy. Just click on the link that says "ru tube" for each video. Sorry they are poor quality..I recorded them upside down and had to flip them and they lost quality.
This first video was a truly awesome sight...he is on point for a few minutes before I get to him. He is on the left side of the screen and there are two strutting grouse tails that I see 25 yrds in front of him dancing around between the trees..I waited for them to fly and missed leaving them for another day. Not on purpose, but truthfully I think I feel better when I miss knowing they are there to work again.

The next video ruger had pointed this grouse 3 times and it just kept running. I look at my gps at the start of the video and have ruger on point 75yrds ahead and I circle around to put the bird between us. You can't see him real good in this video until I release him but the intensity on his face was priceless. He is 15 yrds to my right when I shoot and drop the bird on the second shot with the 28ga semi.

The third is the retrieve from the second video. I stopped recording because I didn't want the video to be too long and turned the camera on when I heard ruger jump on the bird.

Ended the day with 6 productive points and about 5 non procductive points where the birds just kept running and eventually flushing wild after several relocations. With several wild flushes also. Hope all had a great first day, and yes you purists that was a 28ga semi...sorry no side by side for this lefty
