Was unpacking/packing my totes (1 for my clothes and 1 for backpack boots ect)for washing when I took the backpack out I was amazed at the weight....like what is in there and no wonder the climber is so heavy....now lets see...2 small flashlights, cap light, 2 pair gloves, tree umbrella, multi purpose tool, bow hanger,2 knives, bow rope, range finder, face mask, doe pee, pee bottle (empty of course)and a half bottle of water. Now some of the stuff gets taken out depending on where I am hunting and the weather of course but really no kitchen sink! That said what is in your backpack/fannypack??? What is the necessities?? And the early season for me is like preseason football got to try an figure it out (wish the Steelers would have done that).

I usually have pretty much the same except I have a little fire starter you get at hone depot or wherever. You never know what will happen and if I'm gonna be stuck in the woods, I'd rather start a huge fire with a fire starter then mess around with some stick n matches. Those fire starters are light and work really good. I hunt in the middle of nowhere so if something would happen to my gps it's tine to start a fire. Cell phones don't work there either so that's out of the question.

I carry very litte with me.I have a Cabelas's bowhunter's vest and it's not even close to being packed.I pretty much take the essetials like knife, call, binoculars, rangefinder, headlamp and dragging rope.I have a buddy that hauls in a huge backpack that's loaded with a bunch of junk that he'll never need.

Scent, licence, scent pads, knife, drag, binos, scent checker, face paint, water or coffee, range finder, cell phone. That's all the time.
But other times ill also have food, grunt and bleat call, shed antlers, flashlight.
It sounds like a lot but when you have it organized between your pack and pockets its realy not. Everything has its purpose at times.
I'd rather have and not need it then need it and not have it.

Gloves

On my person (in case of a fall):

License, bow hanger, knife x2,range finder, toilet paper, grunt tube, rattle horns, release, spare release, marking tape, 2 flashlights, head lamp, bow hangers, face paint, rope strap for harness (most of my stands have lifelines but just in case one doesnt), spare carabiner, trail mix homemade, 5 hour energy. Thats all for here on a day trip on a western hunt I also add a suture kit and first aid kit.

Extra straps and rope, folding saw, an extra knife, horns, grunt tube, bleat cans, extra clothes and gloves, TP.

I have at the furthest, maybe a 200 yard walk from the truck and civilization, so i don;t carry much.

One thing to carry in your pack that sounds ridiculous, is a small compact mirror and Q-tips. How many of you have had a bug fly in your eye or get a piece of bark in your eye while climbing. Than you sit there all day with no way to get it out.

too much LoL!

i try to pack light....but i NEED everything...

depends where i am hunting and if i am sitting part of the day or ALL day...i do a lot of dark to dark sits...so my pack ends up being kinda big...

i have a front bag on my Viper...in it i keep:

pull up rope
tie off rope
hangers for pack etc..
grunt tube
bleat can
usually keep my arm guard in it i wear over my coat sleeve to keep it out of the string
binocs/range finder
camera tripod for my phone...i am trying to solo video a kill..but usually end up using it after the kill for pics

pocket i keep my license, flash light, knives, etc

pack i carry my food, drinks, flagging tape, good flash light, lighters, saw, usually a leathermen, extra blades for my knife, drag rope, rattling horns..

if i dont sit dark to dark i dont usually take the pack..will carry in the horns some other way..the rest i really dont need..

and i keep a bunch of gear in the truck..extra arrows, broadheads, tracking lights incase i have to track after dark, etc etc

the front bag on the stand is huge...i love it..and always hunt from my climber so i always have it and all my gear...

if i leave the stand overnight i take the bag and my seat with me...i learned sitting in a seat after its been outside all night usually leads to a cold wet backside...i rarely leave it..maybe once a year..

i usually have "it ALL" with me or at the truck...at home i can usually SEE my truck or im not too far from it...if im at camp i might pack a little different depending on where i hunt...

when i go to camp EVERYTHING comes..if i can think of it i have it..maybe 2 of them lol...dont wanna be up there and need something and not have it...and i am also prepared to quarter deer quickly up there after my first 2 years bow hunting up there..warmer days and couldnt hang deer so i had to leave...or leave and come back...

now i take coolers and knives..i can get em in a cooler with ice and be set for atleast a short time...then i can process the rest through the stay and get it in the fridge and freezer..
