Gun Buy Back Programs?

Watching the news today and I see where they are having a Police Buy Back Program in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh at some mostly black church, with the police overseeing the program. They are taking all guns with no questions asked and giving anywhere from 25 to 100 dollars per gun.
This got me to thinking, what a crock of chitt this is, they say it will save lives by turning in these guns, but all it does is let the druggies and thieves turn in the guns they stole from us law abiding citizens, so they can get money for more drugs, but they will always keep at least 1 gun they stole for themselves anyway, So in my opinion, this is not the answer....What are your thoughts?

There was a gun buy back in Delaware a few years ago. Guys with broken junk, dealers, pawn shops and other retail entities brought in all their inoperable stuff, frames with out barrels or cylinders, trashed long guns, demilled military and cashed in pretty good for what was basically scrap or parts. Meanwhile, the cities of Wilmington and Dover are still setting records for drug related gun crimes. If anyone's in the area of this buyback, take a look at the line and see if it mirrors Delaware.

With the police there I think it will deter the most obvious issues with the people steeling them to sale them.

I think the biggest issue is what "REALLY" happens to them as they are going to destroy them. lol we all know some will be held back as burners etc.

And why did it matter that the church was mostly Black???

It dosen`t matter, but it was done in honor of Martin Luther King Day and I didn`t see a reason to advertise it as such, thank you for asking though...…….

Also the gun buy back is with.... NO QUESTIONS ASKED......

I remember the first gun buy program I was involved in Virginia in the early 70's. I was just a young soldier with a wife a a couple of kids. I had a old Star .25 semi took it to the buy back location and got $50 for it!!! I used the $50 for a down payment on a Ruger .357 revolver.
