AT Thru Hiking

A friend of mine is starting a thru hike on the AT. Leaving in about 10 days. He may be looking for someone to start off with. Anyone out there going?

Enjoy life and take a hike on the AT.

Re: AT Thru Hiking

That has always been a pipe dream for many, myself included , but getting time to do it is pretty much impossible with a regular job. You must be in the same boat because I am sure you would love to go with your friend . Safe travel to him (her) .

Enjoy each day afield as if it were your last.....take the time to take it all in !

Re: AT Thru Hiking

He is retiring in 2 days. My plan is to hike with him for about a week when he gets to PA. Good Lord willing in 5 years from now I plan on being on the trail. Hard to wait that long. If I can retire any earlier I do it. Backpack - $220, Tent - $200, 5 - 6 months on a trail right after retirement "priceless".

Enjoy life and take a hike on the AT.

Re: AT Thru Hiking

Cool, MH. We'll be looking for some regular AT updates in 5 years.
Hope it all works out!

Re: AT Thru Hiking

It's killing me I'm not going now with my friend. If not for the house, 3 kids, 3 college payments, 4 cars, 1 wedding (so far) and all our vacations I'd be ready now. But they are worth it.

Enjoy life and take a hike on the AT.
