Camping near Newport

Looking for a seasonal campsite on or near the Juniata river near Newport. Looking for next summer most likely July, Aug, and Sept.

The only campground I can find online is Green valley campground and Grocery, but am not sure this one is still open. Anyone know if it's open and any info would be appreciated.

I like to launch and fish at the Howe Township park, now under control of the PFBC, so something close to that location is what I am looking for.

Buttonwood Campground in The town of Mexico, PA. Top rated camp ground. kid and pet friendly and they have a boat ramp on the Juniata.

Re: Camping near Newport

It's not 0n the Juniata , (Susqy) Ferryboat Campsites on rt. 11/15 about
11 miles north of Dun-cannon. Liverpool pa. Nice campsite with 2 ramps and good fishing in that stretch of river. Had a camper up there for close to 11 years. If I wanted to hit the Junny I would put in at Ammity Hall ramp.

Re: Camping near Newport

Yes I have driven through that campground, also have launched at Amity Hall not a bad ramp there, but had no luck with fishing there. Only been there once so that's not a good test.
