Anti's & Lies

http://www.cnylandcoalition.org/drupal/node/190

LIES, MISINFORMATION AND FEAR MONGERING:
The amount of inaccurate statements, dis-proven material, incomplete "studies," exaggerations and flat out lies that are being expressed from anti-gas activists are currently at an all-time high. We have heard all the claims that drilling causes earthquakes to the more recent, fracking kills chickens and causes cats to urinate blood (honestly, we don't make this stuff up!).

Anti-gas drillers advocating domestic terrorism If you haven't yet reached the point where you are [censored] off about the anti-gas drilling distortions, mistruths, spun facts, omissions, inflations, hyperbole, and outright lies, then this may well get you there.

Threats of domestic terrorism.

There was an article posted online by the Middletown Times Herald-Record, in which the following was posted by a Monticello, NY businessman:

Re: Anti's & Lies

I think the major concern is because of the way the drillers are rushing to get so much drilling done so fast.

Is the rush to avoid taxes that might be put on them if any other man was governor right now or is there something they are worried may shut them down for a while when it becomes public.

I am all for increasing the use of natural gas but it sure seems fishy when they give Corbett soooooo much money and then he taxes the industry less than any other state has done in the past. Are these misconceptions, partial truth, or facts?

The gas companies seem to be less regulated than someone trying to get a septic system passed. Is this another misconception. most of the public does not know the facts and are suspiciaous of the relationship between the energy comps. and our gov.

Re: Anti's & Lies

Earthquakes have been caused in the past by injection wells and the current Ohio quakes (the lastest 4.0 yesterday) in the Youngstown area according to officals have been caused by an injection well. The well has been shut down. It is a rare occurance though. Where are the lies regarding the Ohio quakes?

"Officials said Saturday they believe the latest earthquake activity in northeast Ohio is related to the injection of wastewater into the ground near a fault line, creating enough pressure to cause seismic activity"

Zehringer said four injection wells within a five-mile radius of an already shuttered well in Youngstown will remain inactive while further scientific research is conducted.

A 4.0 magnitude quake Saturday afternoon in McDonald, outside of Youngstown, was the 11th in a series of minor earthquakes in area, many of which have struck near the Youngstown injection well. The quake caused no serious injuries or property damage, Zehringer said.

The top recipient remains Governor Tom Corbett, with a total $1,634,096 in contributions from the natural gas industry.

Corbett opposes the natural gas severance tax
Critics of Corbett's budget argue a natural gas tax would not chase away the industry because Pennsylvania is the only state with no local or state severance tax and companies will not leave billions of dollars in potential profits in the ground.

Re: Anti's & Lies

What are the facts?
If the state is in as much trouble as is being claimed by Corbett we should get at least what is fair for the state. The drilling copanyies are using our services from roaads to police forces, and jails.

The gas is here-it's not like they can just stay home.

Is it not true that most of the $$ is going outside of PA.

When they(the energy companies) do all they can to put the right people(for them) in political positions from town councils to the govenor of the state, something needs a great deall of inspection.

The only reason I see a need for the big rush to drill as much and as fast as they can is to avoid closer scutiny that may come in the future.

We need Facts and complete disclosure. Things certainly do not look like they are on the up and up when they seem to be done in secracy.

Re: Anti's & Lies

g17, I appreciate the info.

I do not want to be told that I am being fed lies without being supplied with the proof.

Re: Anti's & Lies

The severance tax failed under Rendell Administration...It has never been brought to a vote in the current administration.

Corbett ran for the office of Governor opposing the severance tax. He was elected to the Office and has kept the campaign pledge thus far. He is considering an impact fee of which there are currently two different versions in contention.

Counties are charged with permitting septic systems and the enforcement is done at a municipal level... How many bonds does a homeowner post to apply for a septic permit?
