Looks like Talisman is taking it seriously though:

Talisman voluntarily shut down all hydraulic fracturing operations in North America while investigating the cause of the incident, according to DEP.

Isn't Talisman a subsidiary or one of the big energy companies?

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.

Talisman is a big company. They used to call there op's in the usa , Fortuna. Talisman is based out of Canada.
From what I've seen and heard about them, they seem to be a good company

Read about it yesterday. By all accounts, the drilling outfit has done everything by the book so far?

Re: Tioga State Forrest gas well incident

after talking with people who were on the site, this is my understanding of what happened.

the well was fraced, and the flowback water was coming back. there was a equipment malfunction at well head that let some of the water escape.
this water was contained on site.

a company called "Cudd", came in and put a clamp and used liquid nitrogen to freeze well pipe, then replaced well head.

proper clean up crews were on site, water contained to well pad, and proper steps being taken for any further remediation that may be needed.

Re: Tioga State Forrest gas well incident

Sounds about right? Accidents/equipment malfunctions can and do happen and apparently the system in place for quickly dealing with such accidents, worked?

Regardless, it will be listed as an "incident" and those opposed will harp about it.

PPL's Berwick nuke plant registered an incident this week, too. A small leak in a steam line that was quickly repaired and procedures followed, including temporarily shutting down the reactor/generating turbine that the steam line is a part of. No radioactive material was involved, or did any leak into the atmosphere.

And of course, that will be cited as an incident, by those opposed to nuke power.

Them dang gas drillers are going to kill us all. How dare they have equipment failures? they are almost as bad as the truckers. We have never had a equipment failure on our farm!!
