New PA Hunter! Excited to get in the woods!
New PA hunter (3D) here coming from NJ. I've hunted primarily whitetail with a compound bow for the last 6 years. I have also chased whitetail through the woods with a shotgun (no rifle in NJ) and I just got into pheasant hunting last year. I also want to try turkey, waterfowl and small game. As a relatively new hunter and getting into the game pretty late (32yo) Im always looking to learn more and gain more insight, so please feel free pass along your knowledge. If anyone out there is in the area and wants to take me under their wing(no pun intended), that'd be awesome too.
I just love being in the woods.
So far my PA scouting has been very eventful. First place I put a camera out (SGL 127/Brady Lake), I had someone messing with it by covering the camera lens with sticks, and then mud. At least they didn't steal it. Then I found a new spot (Pinchot State Forest) and put a camera out, only for someone to put up a stand and start baiting within 60 yards of where I was thinking of setting up. Now that spot is dead to me. So armed with Onx, I set out again today to find a new spot. I feel horrible trampling around in the woods with the season underway but I dont really have a choice. Sorry in advance if you see me walking through the woods while you're in your stand but a wise hunter once told me, "Our only chance for success is our ability to endure."
All and all, happy to be here, please feel free to reach out if you have any suggestions or just to say "hi." As a new guy in the area, Id love to meet some people that share some common interests.
