Corona Side Effects

The Corona Virus is trying to turn me into a Democrat!

It's got me staying at home, not working....
Complaining about everything, and waiting on my stimulus check !

Lindsey Graham says the Dems fixed it so many will be eligible to make more drawing state unemployment than they were making working their full time jobs. He gave the example in his home state of S. Carolina a guy making $15/hr while working would be able to draw $23/hr on unemployment for up to four months. Only in America!

Free money is never a good idea....

This is not true, the States unemployment tops out at 574.00 @ roughly 1/2 your pay for 26 weeks. This was extended to 39 weeks, which they did even longer when unemployment went up above 9%
The Fed is putting out, from what I understand, up to [email protected] for up to 4 months to subsidize further loss in income. So this will still leave many with less money than they earned at the jobs before the government shut down on them with a days notice. This so called windfall some claim totals out to be around 60 K a year.
No one will or should be getting anything more than they were earning.
I presently have 374 people who make above that threshold, that are unable to work because of the restrictions placed on employees. Every one of them would be on the job by their next scheduled shift if they had that option. Presently our company is still paying everyone but that's not going to be able to go on for 10 weeks.
I do not agree with the check the government is sending out, again dependent on your total taxable income. I plan on buying a new gun with anything I get, that way when people cry the government is after our guns I can say "--------" they sent me money to buy more.

My ability to remember lyrics from songs of the 60's far exceed my ability to remember why I walked into the kitchen

The $600 addition to unemployment is pretty jacked up and I hope it doesn't derail the whole bill because our company needs it to go through ASAP. Cash flow for even healthy small businesses is horrendously terrible now and for the foreseeable future.

UC benefits are generally about 1/2 weekly wages up to a limit around $60k. You do the math, millions of people are about to be temporarily better off on UC than working. The less you make the more the benefit. You have to factor in employer healthcare also, which will flip it back for many. They said it was because the state formulas are too different to get any more complicated than a fixed addition.

Unemployment compensation is a state run program....the maximums vary by state....add $600 to your state maximum (should you qualify for the max) to dtermine amount.

I'm just stating what Graham said...evidently the max state unemployment comp in PA is different than Graham's home state of SC.

Since I initially posted, it has come to light Republicans have been still working to change the bill to limit compensation to 100% of wages. I hope that provision makes the final cut.

Between state and fed it should, not 1$ more.
This is to help people try to stay whole during a national emergency, they didn't win the freaking lottery.

The Bernie Bros gotta love that part of the bill. Make $60,000 a year to sit home? AWESOME!

Of course, none of them were working to begin with...
