So, I saw the impeached trump say that he would be cutting social security & medicare if elected to a second term. Does anyone else think that`s a terrible idea ??

Yeah, I'd like to see that link as well. You see, I tend to put stock in words, so Old Crow:

You said you saw (meaning you saw with your own eyes, or heard with your own ears, that Trump said with his own mouth, that he would be cutting social security & medicare if elected to a second term.

Please post the link to the audio and / or video.

Now, is it possible that the Republicans and the Trump administration plan to explore solutions to the funding problems that have been plaguing these programs for years... I certainly hope so, by cutting fraud and abuse, and possibly restructuring these programs... but rest assured, no one will be cutting yours, or mine, benefits that we are currently receiving, ain't gonna happen.

From what I gather, the cuts (45 billion) are aimed at those receiving disability, not retired SS recipients. And would be accomplished through promoting return to work programs and increasing continued eligibility reviews. They are looking to weed out the able bodied individuals drawing disability.

Anything involving work will never make it out of the House as long as the Dems are in control, so it really is nothing more than a proposal.

If you never paid into Medicare or SS, you can't collect from Social Security.

You may be confusing these programs with Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid, which are not funded by Social Security. Still funded by taxpayer dollars, but not the SS fund.

Which is most likely what our liberal friend is talking about.
