Really? I'm Surprised

Ukrainian airplane shot down by mistake by Iranian anti-aircraft missile

Not sure I agree with the "mistake" part, but who didn't think that the Iranians shot that plane down.

Shoot straight

I just posted something about this in the "plan to solve thread"....I'm betting the Iranians were hoping there were Americans aboard the flight.

They are still denying it but their story is falling apart. I can't wait to hear the explanation of how the tail fin of a Russian Tor-1 anti aircraft missile ended up in the debris field.

The photo is from another web site but was supposedly taken by a resident from the area who went to try to help the victims.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

I'm wondering if there was someone aboard the plane they did not want to leave the country.

The missile is a 9M331 surface-to-air missile usually referred to as the SA-8. It is used in the Russian Tor-1 anti aircraft defense system which is believed to be in use in Iran.

Here are some photos I pulled off line. If the photo I posted first is legit then there is little doubt as to what happened.

The cost for the Patriot, the US's main SAM, is listed online at between 1-6 million dollars each....the price of war adds up quickly!

I guess the configuration of the weapon must account for the wide cost window.

I guess Eisenhower knew of what he spoke in his farwell address to America.

I suppose that is possible. But, if you go to that part of the world in these times I feel you assume some risk. Since many who put them selves in this position probably do it for financial gain I have never felt a lot of sympathy for them. You go to a troubled area her in the world by choice you should be willing to accept the consequences.I get very angry with those who want to to send our military in to save them. My son spent 24 yrs. in the military and a large part of it in the middle east. I would have been one angry out for blood sob if he had been hurt or killed rescuing some private citizens who put themselves in harms way.
