Pennsylvania needs about $5.5 billion to bring the state’s highways, bridges and public transit up-to-date, according to a report released by the House Transportation Task Force, and lawmakers are supporting a path to ease the financial woes.
Wow. I hope someone is doing a financial audit to find out where all the TOLL money goes because every year the tolls go up and will continue to go up for many more years every year. According to the State, they needed this $$ to fix the highways.
Right now I think it cost me @ $30. every time I run upstate and back to Phila.
Keep raising the tolls. I came home yesterday toll road 66 wife had the ezpass Ezpass price 2.10 Plate scan 4.20. What a rip off. So they will send me a bill. What if I don't get it? Can they prove I didn't get it? Lay some more state employees off is their answer. Next step will be open all the roads up and charge every citizen like a school tax. We don't care if you drive the roads, or have kids in school, Pay. Bet that move is coming.
the lions share of the gas tax 750 million plus goes to the PSP every year. Last year Erie County instituted a 5.00 add on to the registration fee to help fix roads and bridges in Erie County.
they need to stop raiding this fund, take the 750 million back from the PSP and start fixing the roads and bridges. in just two years they can fix the 3,500 bridges in PA with the money that the PSP takes from the gas tax.
Twenty-three percent, about 3,500, of the state’s bridges are structurally deficient. While they are safe to cross, more restrictions will be needed, which could affect rural farmers who use the bridges to transport goods. About $1.8 billion is needed to improve the state’s bridges.
