Cory Booker Introduces Bill to Require All Gun Owners to Be Federally Licensed
Posted by: admin in Freedom News, Gun News, Politics September 15, 2019

Sen. Cory Booker, currently in seventh place in most Democratic presidential polls, has introduced the Federal Firearm Licensing Act, which would require anyone wishing to buy a firearms to go through a vetting process conducted by the Department of Justice.

“If you need a license to drive a car,” said Booker, “you should need a license to buy and possess a gun.”

Under Booker’s legislation, individuals would have to go through an extensive background check, complete a firearms training course, pass a written test, submit fingerprints, and report to the DOJ the make, model, and serial number of the gun in question before procuring a license to own said weapon. This license would then have to be renewed every five years, at which time the applicant would undergo additional training and another background check.

Under no circumstances would an American citizen be allowed to obtain or keep a gun without the proper license.

In addition to these already-onerous and unconstitutional requirements, gun owners would be subjected to further scrutiny. Booker’s office notes that the bill would mandate that the Department of Justice “regularly conduct checks to ensure that individuals are in compliance with the federal license requirements.” If there is any indication that the gun owners poses a threat to himself or others, the license may be revoked and the guns confiscated.

Back in May, when Booker first included the plan in his 16-point campaign platform for gun control, the New Jersey senator said that he was irritated by the idea of the NRA opposing his ideas.

“That kind of resignation frustrates me to be honest because we know this is not a plan that any law-abiding gun owner should be concerned about it,” he argued. “The people who should be concerned are two groups, one, the people who want to break the law, gun runners and criminals and the gun manufacturers who have been working with — in an ungodly way to undermine the safety and security of this nation.”

But the logical flaws inherent in Booker’s plan are laid out right there in his own words. Of course “law-abiding” citizens have nothing to be concerned about from these plans – that’s the whole point. Booker’s plans, and those of his cohorts, are trying to catch flies with a web that only sticks to spiders. And by expanding the law in every direction, they will indeed make criminals out of citizens who were very much “law-abiding” before the Democrats stuck their dirty fingers into the situation. People who were already criminals, though, will remain criminals. Nothing has changed for them.

Ah, but as much as we’d like to bang our heads against the wall and scream, “Why don’t you GET this?”…the truth is, they get it just fine. This is political virtue-signaling and nothing more. Unfortunately, if they ever get into power, Democrats WILL enact this crap, even if it won’t save a single life.

The cat came out of the bag with the Democrat "debates". They can't call for for "gun control", not for "gun safety", not even "commonsense anything".

Sure sounds like a severe case of infringement to me.

Sounds like Spartacus may be onto something here but doesn't go nearly far enough. We'll need a background check and license for 'free speech' as well. Better throw in requirement for a pricey stamp for 'unreasonable search and seizure' rights too. Maybe he and the rest of the socialist idiots can pass an all encompassing "inalienable rights license", renewed annually of course at the government's prerogative. I mean if we're going to license our rights as free American's it seems foolish not to include them all in the legislation.
