Re: pro sports in olimpics

I disagree, the Olympics are supposed to be about the best in the world and pro athletes are the best

I agree. My dad and I was talkin about this today.Look at Boxin, when they went pro they would lose their amateur status and never be allowed to compete in the Olympics again.

Re: pro sports in olimpics

Depends on what your definition of "pro" is. Nearly all the athletes in the Olympics compete in their sport professionally, year round. They go to things like World Cup skiing events and world figure skating events, etc. They literally do nothing else but compete in their respective sports year round. Do many of them make the money that the pro hockey and pro basketball players make? No, but that is simply because their sports are obscure.

Re: pro sports in olimpics

One problem was/is, not every Country had professional leagues. So while we were sending "non pros", a lot of other Country's were sending their best.

And it's kinda hard to train, practice, etc without being pro, money's a little tight when you're trying to have the facilities and time to train on amateur status.

Re: pro sports in olimpics

They are ALL pro athletes at their respective sport. EXCEPT baseball players in the summer games. They are our best college players vs. the worlds best pro players.
