running it up?

when is enough enough? or do you think it is the defenses job to stop them..warren highschool beat clarion limestone last night 83-12 cl lost last week 57-0 to rival clarion.......i dont know the circumstances of the game but i think 83 points is a little excessive. JMHO

take a kid hunting and fishing it will keep them out of trouble

Re: running it up?

All depends. Were the starters still in the game, or had the coach replaced all the starters with 2nd and 3rd string players. If it is the 2nd or 3rd string players and running the ball non stop, then there is a problem with basic tackling. Do you want the other team to simply down the ball every play? That is more of an embarassment than "running up" the score.

Holy Cheese and Crackers!

Re: running it up?

usually after the coaches have a comfortable lead, the 2nd and 3rd stringers get to play. maybe the other teams just didnt have it together? but yes lol 83 does seem a little excessive

Dont knock it till you've tried it

Re: running it up?

We had a similar sitation my senior year of high school.

The starters were out by halftime, and the lead was 38-0.

By the end of the game, a bunch of tenth graders had gotten the score up to 63-0 on a handful of fullback running plays.

If the other team is unable to stop the second and third string, why hold back. The kids coming off the bench want the chance to play like everyone else.

Re: running it up?

Only of the starters were still in the game. Sounds like CL is in for a long season

Re: running it up?

ACV might get lucky and win a game next week.
They have been getting wiped out for years.

Re: running it up?

There is a mercy rule in HS football so it could have been worst.Cant tell the 2nd 3rd stringers to lay down, they practice just as hard as the starters and want to shine also.

Can you imagine the score if the clock didn't run continuously? Our local girls HS basketball team beat a team 100-9 a couple years ago. They had to leave in a few starters because they didn't have a full bench. Not only didn't other team not score a basket until the second half, they never even got the ball in their end until then. It was painful to watch.

Re: running it up?

Kids will learn more by getting their butts handed to them, then they would if we teach our kids to lay down.

Where have you been? I had to work late... Oh these? Yeah, it was 'camo day' at work again .
