What are your expectations for the Pirates.

Division? First wildcard? Second wildcard? 500? What do you think?

May make 500 if they're lucky.

Re: What are your expectations for the Pirates.

Over .500. Possibly a wild card if they get their act together. I honestly believe they are good enough to compete with anyone in a 7 game series, because your starting rotation gets thinned down to 3 guys, and I have no problem with Burnett and Karstens starting 4 of the 7 games. But they have to get there first.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Re: What are your expectations for the Pirates.

Karstens is probably their second best starter.

Re: What are your expectations for the Pirates.

They are currently living up to my expectations... best AAA club playing MLB.

I think they are headed in the right direction though...

They were always good at giving up their talent for 'future prospects'.

They are getting closer...

Re: What are your expectations for the Pirates.

This is the club that brings the 19 years of losing seasons to the end. (IMO)

This is not a playoff team though. The Braves are good, the Dodgers made the right moves, and the Cardinals are playing their typical good late summer baseball.

This team still needs pieces to stay competitive this late in the year. I wrote in the other Pirate thread about still needing starting pitching and bats to maintain a run this late in the year.

I think they are going to hold on and win atleast 82 games but LA and STL are going to stay in front of them even though the schedule is against those two teams and ours favors the club.

2F for a while...

Yep. They need two more horses and maybe Cole can be one of them next year. They also need a defensive upgrade at catcher.

I like the Snider and Sanchez moves. They will be interesting watches next year. I can deal with Barmes as I love his fluidity in the field. His glove will play.

Catcher needs addressed though.
