Kordell Stewart

Kordell retired a Steeler.....within the last day or so. I know, I thought he retired years ago, too. Aparently he never officially retired from the league. He released a statement saying the best years of his career were with the Steelers and since the death of his father in March, he wanted "closure" on that part of his life. If he would have agreed to play reciever and not insist he was a full-time QB, he probably would have had a long, fruitful career with the Black and Gold. Pride goeth before the fall, I guess.

Re: Kordell Stewart

I think it was the 97 season he was the offensive player of the year and he did some valuable things while a member of the Steelers.

True shame though, like you said BH, he could have had a much longer and more fruitful career

Re: Kordell Stewart

He would have fit in much better in today's NFL as the "slash" type player due to the various wildcat offenses now being run. He still wouldn't fit in with the Steelers' offense, though. If you think about it, he was 10 years ahead of his time.

Re: Kordell Stewart

The only thing he was 10 years ahead of was "don't ask, dont tell"

Re: Kordell Stewart

I always doubted the rumors of that. I think that led to much of his confidence problems. Always being questioned about it and the distractions it caused in the locker room and on the field. Similar rumors were flying around about Mike Webster as well but they didn't get the attention the Kordell rumors did.
