Penguin bites Newt

Seems those Penguins are even nasty to Presidential candidates. No truth to the rumor that the creatures name was Crosby.

NEWT Gingrich has tackled some feisty political opponents in his time but a penguin got the better of him during a trip to the St. Louis Zoo.
Gingrich, who is an avid fan of zoos and often visits them while on the campaign trail, got more than he bargained for in his encounter with the penguin - including a bandage on his finger.

While at the zoo on Friday - before his address to the National Rifle Association convention - the Republican candidate was nipped by a Magellanic penguin, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported yesterday.

The former House speaker was on a paid private tour where visitors are able to get "up close and personal" with two Magellanic penguins in the zoo's care.

"During that visit, as Speaker Gingrich indicated in an interview with a national media outlet, he was nipped on the finger by a penguin," zoo public relations director Susan Gallagher said in a statement. "A band-aid took care of the injury."

Spokesman R.C. Hammond said the incident had not put Gingrich off further visits to zoos.

"Newt is a zoo fan. He will be back," Hammond told Reuters.

Gingrich has already visited zoos in San Diego, Des Moines and New Orleans while on the campaign trail.

He also wrote the foreword for the book "America's Best Zoos: A Travel Guide for Fans & Families."

Re: Penguin bites Newt

Penguins have an amazing ability to judge character and will lash out at losers. Both on and off the ice

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.
