One classy guy

I have to add this to the ever growing list of things that make me look at Antonio Brown and say, "Santonio who?"

And to think, just being blessed to be in the same room and shake hands with Bettis was one of my lifetime highlights. I'm not sure what I'd do if that happened to me.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Re: One classy guy

I was at our local Steelers bar one night in 1994. After a charity basketball game, several Steelers came in. I was in the back, shooting pool when Yancey Thigpen came back and started shooting pool with me. We spent about three hours playing pool, drinking beer and BSing. He was really cool and it was like we were friends forever. I even won my share of pool games. At the end of the night I was so comfortable being around him it never occured to me to ask him for an autograph.

Re: One classy guy

Sounds like a pretty serious relationship Bucket. Have you informed your wife of your cheating ways?

Where have you been? I had to work late... Oh these? Yeah, it was 'camo day' at work again .

Re: One classy guy

Well then, makes sense why you dedicated this song to Yancey.

Re: One classy guy

He kind of did. The Steelers lost the Superbowl that year. He promised me they'd win.

Re: One classy guy

Years ago while in high school i worked for a local baseball card shop. We would go to shows and set up tables to sell cards and autographed memorabillia. there was always athelets at the shows do autograph sessions. One year we were in pittsburgh doing a show and there was supposed to be several steelers there. I wouldn't get to really see them or anything I was to busy working our table. We got low on some inventory and my boss sent me out to the loading dock area to get some more from the truck. As I was out there a young man in a sports car pulled up. It was Yancy Thigpen, I recognized him and said I thought you were signing today? He replied from his car that he was late and lost. He asked if I could show him were he was supposed to be. I said sure, his female acquaintace parked his car while he followed me into the show i took him to the signing area. He asked if I was a steeler fan. I replied very much so and that he was a good player but I was a defense kind of person and that Greg Lloyd was my current favorite player. He laughed shook my hand and thanked me. I went back to work. that evening the show had just closed. I was pulling card boxes from under the table when a voice from behind me said I hear your a big fan of mine. I turned around and Greg Lloyd was standing there, he explained that Yancy said he owed me one and that I was a big fan of his. He shook my hand (his engulfed mine) and signed a bunch of cards and hung out B.S.ing for a bit. It was a very memorable day and I found both of them to be very nice. though I wouldn't want to make Greg Lloyd angry he looked like he could tear a tire in half, dude was big.
