Iím not positive but I think it goes back to the second game of the series when Neris blew the save by giving up three runs in the ninth and then got ejected for hitting a batter. The Dodgers were doing a lot of celebrating (who could blame them) and I think it got under Nerisís skin. He got the chance to celebrate right back at them with the two word phrase that gets you banned from HPA. Btw JB, I agree with you, it was poor taste.

I donít think the Dodgers celebration was over the top, considering the situation, but the celebrations in sports in general have gotten out of hand.

A guy hits a homer and thereís is a handshake routine that requires a Broadway choreographer to arrange. What if a pitcher and catcher did that after a strikeout? I donít think it would go over very well with the opposing team. The celebrations need to be toned down. IMO.

Try to restrain yourself from jumping up and down.

The Phillies signed Lefty FA Drew Smyly. He is coming off Tommy John surgery. His ERA with his last team, the Rangers, was over 8.00. I checked his career stats and I donít see anything that impresses me. He will start vs the Pirates on Sunday pending a physical.

The Phillies traded cash for pitcher Mike Morin from the Twins. He is 28 years old and has a 3.18 ERA in 23 innings. J. D. Hammer was sent down to the minors.

Some info on Morin.......

Quote:
Morin was designated for assignment despite his decent season-long numbers because of regression toward his career stats. Morin started hot but has allowed 10 runs, seven earned, on 13 hits over his past 11 1/3 innings. That's not exactly what you'd like to see on a contending team looking for a stable bullpen arm.

Morin pitched last night and gave up an RBI double. It really didnít matter because the Phils only scored one run.

Another question, if I may.....Why is Nick Williams on the team? He has some of the worst at bats Iíve ever seen but at least heís consistent.

Smyly pitched well today. Hos with a crazy swing hit one two rows deep. And we won in 11. We had only 6 hits but the Bucs only had 6 hits. We need to steal some pitching from the Bucs.

Williams is up again because he is a good fielder with a good arm and we are short on out fielders about right now. He has power if he connects. but like you said he is consistently not connecting. Waugh!

Yep, I liked what I saw from Smyly today. Maybe they found the pearl in the oyster with him. Letís hope so.

Williams needs some intense batting instruction. He is lost at the plate. If he isnít striking out, heís hitting weak grounders and weak fly balls. When heís shown in the dugout he looks totally frustrated. I think his confidence level drops with every poor at bat. Is he the next Dominic Brown?

Smyly, six innings one run. I'd take that every day all day.

Hunting: 10% skill and 90% location.
