Owners ratify new deal!!

There will be Goodellball this year after all!! Next up is Free Agency. Hope the Steelers do not overpay to keep Stone Hands Taylor. He's good, but not good enough to make a substantial impact. That secondary was horrid with him. They could let Ike walk and sign Peppy to play corner, and still be horrid.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Re: Owners ratify new deal!!

I wouldn't mind if they took a long look at DeAngelo Williams, however. Get him, and tell Mendenhall he's free to pursue his dream of fighting beside the Taliban. And I'd LOVE to see Henry Hynoski in the Black and Gold. A guy like him is the definition of a Pittsburgh Steeler running back.

Re: Owners ratify new deal!!

Hey SF58, try to not get too excited. I saw a report that claims the players are not happy with the deal. They have until the 26th (I think) to re-certify the union, and vote on the new deal. But, this seems to be moving in the right direction.

“did you get all that on camera sport?”

It is not over yet. The owners seemed to have ticked the players off for some reason or another.

Umm, excuse me??... If they signed me they most certainly would be better and my price tag would be a tad less to boot.. A real deal for the Pepster.

Where have you been? I had to work late... Oh these? Yeah, it was 'camo day' at work again .

Re: Owners ratify new deal!!

I was simply taking account your lack of NFL experience, age (you don't look 22), and unfamiliarity with Dick Lebeau's complex layered defensive scheme. No insult at the Pepster. If they do sign you, put in a good word for me. For crying out loud, I can't even hope to be good enough to play for the Pirates anymore--they actually are a professional baseball team now. And I didn't say you'd make that secondary worse--at the very least, you'd be as good as William Gay, likely better. A pox on me for hurting your final feeling.

Know what else ticks them off even more--not getting paid. Bottom line is that, as in most labor disputes, ownership still holds most of the cards. Only a few players are really set for life. Most are not. Until the new Patriot rule is enacted and flags go on the players, people will watch, and owners will make coin. The players can be replaced, albeit, with far lower quality ones.

Re: Owners ratify new deal!!

Who DIDN'T think they'd get a deal done before it actually started affecting their bottom line? Let's hope they drag out the details long enough that we dont have to suffer through the preseason.

Re: Owners ratify new deal!!

We can suffer through preseason, or suffer through watching the regulars stumble through a few games where they lack crispness. Preseason is important. You never know how a guy will perform until you get him in a game. The starters may take it easy in preseason, but in reality, the other guys are laying it all on the line. Rod Woodson, for example, was not very good in practice. On the flip side, Mark Malone was very good in practice. Besides, preseason gives us the guy we clamor for when a starter of 5 years has a bad series, lol.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.
