The Flyers on Tuesday acquired the rights to goalie Ilya Bryzgalov from Phoenix for forward Matt Clackson, a third-round pick in 2012 and a conditional draft pick.
The 30-year-old Bryzgalov went 36-20-10 for the Coyotes last season, his fourth with Phoenix. He recorded a 2.48 goals against average and a .921 save percentage with seven shutouts.
Acquired off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks in 2007, Bryzgalov was a runner-up for the Vezina Trophy following the 2009-10 season.
Bryzgalov was a member of Anaheim's Stanley Cup championship team along with current Flyers defensemen Chris Pronger and Sean O'Donnell, posting a 2.47 GAA and a .907 save percentage in 27 games that season.
The Russian native represented his home country in the 2002, 2006 and 2010 Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal in 2002 at Turin.
