Pens vs Habs

I think this is gonna be a big week for the pens. Talkin to a lot of people around town here and they all think the penguins dont have a shot in the playoffs. Might I remind you all that in effect we are down one sidney crosby. To me this doesnt mean the season is lost. The unit we have on the ice is coming together real tight and learning how to win with what they have. So again I say: DARKHORSE.

Takin the girlfriend to her first game sunday. Will be our first trip to Consol and her first trip to a pens game. PUMPED.

Re: Pens vs Habs

We also are missing some guy named Malkin. Though, it seems as though he was as invisible as Comrie for most of the year anyway.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Re: Pens vs Habs

Precisely why I didnt mention his name. I would rather have five mark letestu's than one Gino. Gino was a great fit for pitt two years ago. And he is a monster when he is hot. But look at the balance of when he is hot to when he isnt/injured. He isnt worth the money he is getting. If I had been shero I woulda dumped him for two first round draft picks and moved on.

IMO, they have mishandled Geno. He's been way too coddled and treated like a child, especially since Bylsma took over. Therrien knew how to motivate Geno, and if that meant hurting his feelings and being a jerk, he was fine with that. Geno has an astonishing amount of skill and talent. What separates him, and it seems MOST Eastern Bloc players from Sid is that Sid is borderline OCD when it comes to working on his game and trying to get even better. Geno seems to want to get by on talent alone, which is great, but he'll always be a lower grade player than Sid as a result. Geno wants to be a great player, where as Sid won't settle for anything besides being the very best.

Re: Pens vs Habs

Also, I believe Geno is not well suited for the PP as the Pens want to run it at this time. He was great under Therrien on the PP, because the PP was run conventionally. They stuck either Malone or Scary Gary Roberts in front of the net, and Gonch and Malkin were free to blast away at will. They have gone to that without Sid and Geno, and put Staal in front of the net, and if I'm not mistaken, the PP has actually improved in their absence. Not many ESPN goals, but they are still doing just fine.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.
