Re: Kovalev traded to Pittsburgh for Conditional 7th

I think I am the only one that is not excited. I bet my bottom dollar that he will not fit into the north south system the Pens play but for the pick they gave up what's the worst that could happen???? Worth the risk, i just dont think it will cash out super big. A 7th round....they can have it. Getting him for nothing (as long as that conditional pick doesn't become a 2nd or 1st if we win)

Since he's free, not a bad deal. But he is very, very inconsistent. We really lose nothing on this. If he doesn't score, it's no different than our current wingers. If he happens to get on a hot streak, it is awesome, especially if Sid returns. Sid-Kovy-Neal is a nice line.

Re: Kovalev traded to Pittsburgh for Conditional 7th

The conditional pick can only be as good as a 6th rounder is what I read. For that clause to kick in the Pens have to make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs and Kovy has to play in at least 50% of the 1st round games.

It isn't a bad rental player. He can still score some goals and at this point that is what the Pens need.

If even a small part of Kovy is left, it's a good deal. He could win games for you on his own, when he was on. Unfortunately, when he was off for weeks on end, we had nobody to pick up the slack.

Re: Kovalev traded to Pittsburgh for Conditional 7th

I agree SF58 it is a hit or miss scenerio but even if he comes in and scores 5 goals over the next 20 games those 5 goals could be the difference. The way this team is forced to play now is for 2-1, 3-2, 1-0 games. For all we know that could be 5 game winners.

He could also put up 20 by seasons end.

Love it! Kovy was my favorite player the last time he was in a Pens uniform. I still have his jersey. I knew this was going to happen but still, I am excited to see him play again.

Where have you been?

Does Adams have to give up #27 now?
