The rules for overtime have been changed for the playoffs only. If you get the ball first and kick a field goal the other team still gets the ball also. If you score a touchdown on the first drive though the game is over.

Yeah, but it's the playoffs. One possession isn't a whole lot to work with. Make it a full quarter....if it's still tied take it another....and another, etc. Regular season should be different. Kind of like hockey, but no sudden death.

You really under estimated the ramifications of the boondoggle you have just perpetrated!

Shhhh-don't say that. Roger will try to figure out how to put a shootout into football.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Oh, I have it! How about a long bomb competition....quarterback, receiver and one d-back! Take turns, first one to cross the goal line and dance around 3 times wins!

You really under estimated the ramifications of the boondoggle you have just perpetrated!

Re: What would you change in the NFL?

#1 Simplify the rule for a completed pass, two feet down with possession. No making a football move, no controlling it through the entire catch including in some cases getting up off the ground.
#2 No tuck rule, it's a pass or it's a fumble.
#3 Expand the active roster on game day, If player safety is such a concern. Why have a back up tight end playing tackle when you have capable linemen on the payroll.
#4 Follow college rules relating to replay plus one coaches challenge.
#5 The new overtime rule in place for the entire season.

Re: What would you change in the NFL?

Speaking of that--the Pro Bowl gets moved back to the week after the SB. Having it the week before eliminates the players on both teams in the Super Bowl from participating. Can you imagine the heat those guys would get if one got hurt playing in the Pro Bowl?

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.
