Rearrange the NFL Divisions?

I've had this idea for a while now and thought I would throw it out there to see what others think.

These are the current NFL divisions:

AFC East

Patriots
Dolphins
Jets
Bills

AFC North

Steelers
Ravens
Browns
Bengals

AFC South

Colts
Jaguars
Titans
Texans

AFC West

Broncos
Chargers
Chiefs
Raiders

NFC East

Giants
Redskins
Cowboys
Eagles

NFC North

Packers
Bears
Vikings
Lions

NFC South

Falcons
Saints
Panthers
Buccaneers

NFC West

Cardinals
Seahawks
49ers
Rams

I realize that there are big rivalries out there and such but geographically speaking and competition wise, I think that they should be rearranged to look like this.

AFC East

Patriots
Dolphins
Jets
Ravens

AFC North

Steelers
Browns
Bengals
Bills

AFC South

Colts
Jaguars
Titans
Texans

AFC West

Broncos
Raiders
Chiefs
Chargers

NFC East

Giants
Eagles
Redskins
Panthers

NFC South

Falcons
Buccaneers
Saints
Cowboys

NFC North

Packers
Bears
Lions
Vikings

NFC West

Cardinals
Seahawks
49ers
Rams

I think that this would add better competition to each division add things would be better geographically speaking. I always thought it was weird that Dallas was in the NFC East. Oh well, I love the Steelers/Ravens rivalry but I would love to see them take on the Pats twice a year and beat up on them. The Pats have run away with that division for years because the competition was pathetic.

It's a pipe dream but please discuss.

I couldn't bear to not play the Ravens twice per year. Though the division you put the Steelers in would give them a free ticket to the playoff from now until Cleveland wins a Super Bowl.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Why can't the schedule maker just make the Pats play Baltimore then Pittsburgh back to back every year? Mu ha ha!!!

Running away with the division hasn't done New England any good for about 6 or 7 years now. Things are fine the way they are. Changing it would screw up too many good existing rivalries.

I like it as is---how could I not? Who has been the most successful team since 2005? Playing the Rats twice a year is a Steel sharpening steel situation. The Ravens are truly the only team that can come close to matching our physicality.

Anyway, running away with the division isn't what's killed the Patriots. Having to play good teams with good defenses in the playoffs without cheating is.

I just think that the Pats have ran away with that division for so long because they had no competition. The Jets had been just as bad as the Bills and Phins for years and have only recently stepped it up. I would love for 4 games of the Pats schedule every year have to be against the Ravens and the Jets. Brady would have tears running down his face every game.

Looks like the steelers would make out pretty good with the divisions like that lol.

Re: Rearrange the NFL Divisions?

While the Bills, Brown and Bengals have been train wrecks recently, I believe they are on the edge of becoming competitors. The Bills have been ravaged by injuries over the past few years and have had an ongoing QB carousel. The Bengals would already be right there if not for poor D play. The Browns flashed moments of brilliance this year and I believe that they are one big play receiver from being a good team.

Re: Rearrange the NFL Divisions?

How about putting Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New England, and Indy in the same division?

Re: Rearrange the NFL Divisions?

That would eliminate 3 from the playoffs. Likely NE and Indy, since you can pretty much guarantee Brady and Manning would both be spitting blood if they had to play those 2 teams twice a year. Brady would retire before he took that kind of punishment. Manning would last a little longer.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.
