Pens Trade

I'm hearing a RUMOR about a trade between Pens & CBJ
The first name I heard was Gogo for Umberger or Voracek but now I'm hearing its bigger then that, and Staal and Malkins name has come up.

Has anyone heard anything?

I know Rick Nash would look nice on Sid's line

Re: Pens Trade

I highly doubt Malkin or Staal won't finish out their respective contracts. Both are part of the 'foundation' of this team. Of course so were Malone and Whitney so....

You really under estimated the ramifications of the boondoggle you have just perpetrated!

Re: Pens Trade

According to @TSNBobMcKenzie #CBJ Mike Commodore clears waivers.

CBJ are clearing roster space.

So it looks like something is going to happen on the Jackets side don't know if the Pens are involved yet.

Re: Pens Trade

Ultimately, Malkin Staal or Crosby will probably have to be dealt. But now? The Pens are at or near the top of the league. What would be our motivation for making such a deal now?

Re: Pens Trade

I'd pick Geno. He's the 2nd most talented player on the team, but he's not the offensive weapon that Crosby is, nor is he the 2 way animal that Staal is. Combine that with the fact that he'd bring the most return, since Sid is off the table, and is the least likely to dedicate himself to torturing the Pens every time he saw them. I like Geno, but IMO it would make the most sense. But--they are on top of the league, so why fix it if it's not broken? If they feel that they need a top end winger on Crosby's line for a game, or series, he currently wears No. 71 for the Pens. For that matter, they could drop Sid between Staal and Malkin. That would be a short term deal only, but I don't see any possible way to defend that line consistently. The only weakness there is the fact that Sid and Geno aren't the best at forechecking. They can do it, but do you really want those two using their bodies as battering rams for an extended period of time?

If anything, go get an enforcer who can play. Bylsma seems to dislike Godard for some reason, and plays him so sparingly you have trouble remembering he plays for us. Though he's hurt right now, he wasn't playing before that. For crying out loud, Dustin Jeffery was playing instead of Godard.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Re: Pens Trade

Godard isn't needed in this line up any longer. We don't need a player who can only enforce. We have plenty who can enforce and also play. If other teams dress an enforcer then they just handicap themselves against the pens. You just have to make sure guys like engelland, rupp and asham aren't going out and fighting the other teams enforcer just to fight.

Where have you been?

Re: Pens Trade

Why don't the Pens bring up Tangrady from the baby pens? He is a big guy with talent that would be a huge presence in front of the net.
