THE Model of Consistency

I always knew it, but I guess it hit home a bit more after hearing Cleveland just hired their 8th Head Coach since something like 2000 ? The Steelers have had THREE, yep THREE, since 1969. That is completely unheard of in the modern age of professional sports. College, sure, head coaching longevity at the same institution can be more common. Not saying the Rooney's have never made mistakes, but if a new owner is looking for consultation, well ?

I can't think of another professional sports team that has had that type of track record... none ? In 3 more years it will be a HALF CENTURY with 3 head coaches.

Re: THE Model of Consistency

Fun fact--the new Browns now have had the exact same amount of head coaches as the old Browns did.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Re: THE Model of Consistency

Take a look at hockey....more than three years as head coach for one team is long-lived in most all franchises. Of course there are exceptions, but for the majority it's a revolving door.

You really under estimated the ramifications of the boondoggle you have just perpetrated!

Re: THE Model of Consistency

One thing too--both former coaches haven't even seriously considered coaching anywhere else.

We’re not going to apologize for caring. We’re not.

Lindy Ruff was in Buffalo for like 13 years.

Re: THE Model of Consistency

Ruff coached Buffalo from the beginning of the 1997 season through to February of 2013....almost SIXTEEN seasons!

I did have to look that up, but being way up here on the NY border we get our news out of Erie and Buffalo. I knew it was more than 13 years because every other night on the sports segment they'd mention how he was longest tenured NHL coach, etc. with 'some' teen years.

You really under estimated the ramifications of the boondoggle you have just perpetrated!
