Paul Chryst out at Pitt

ESPN Radio just announced that it's not rumor anymore and that Chryst will be announced at Wisconsins head coach in the next few days. Man, Pitts goes through coaches like it's nobodies business. I'll bet James Franklin is on the phone this afternoon once Central Valley finishes up there start title game. He's going to be trying everything to suck Jordan Whitehead away now. That should be interesting. Now where will Pitt turn for their, what.....4th head coach in 5 years?

Re: Paul Chryst out at Pitt

It amazes me that so few coaches stick around these days. No one wants to build a legacy like Paterno or Bowden.

I don't fault Chryst the much though. He is a Madison native, played QB/TE for the Badgers and coached there for parts of 7 years.

While I do agree that a lot of coaches don't want to stick around long enough to build programs anymore. There are also a lot of schools that will not allow a coach to stick around very long. Chryst possibly leaving for Wisconsin in a good example. This all started with the firing of Bo Pelini in Nebraska. A man that averaged 9 wins per year during his tenure.

Re: Paul Chryst out at Pitt

I think it has to with

A.) they leave to go back to a program they have a history with (played for / hometown team

B.) they leave to go coach a program they like better for whatever reason

C.) but it's most likely $. Win a bunch of games with program A, then bigger program B calls and offers more $. Win a bunch with program B and program C calls and offers more $...repeat.

And who can blame them?

Re: Paul Chryst out at Pitt

Paul Chryst may be a wonderful fella, and a good coach. But in his 3 years at Pitt, it' 6-6, 6-6, 6-6. Not exactly a guy that is having his door knocked down by major colleges looking to swoon him away. Matter of fact, had it not been the opening at Wisconsin, NO FBS school would be courting him. I know this this keeps hurting Pitt's attempt at continuity, but regarding Chryst, "Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya".

... not to mention, Chryst's dynamicism matches that of recent Bucco manager, John Russell. LACKLUSTER !
