Re: Sporting Clay's for August

Im new to trap/ sporting clays. I've been doing some reading online about it and have seen registered shoots quite a bit. What does a registered shoot mean? Can anyone shoot in a registered shoot?

Re: Sporting Clay's for August

For Trap a registered shoot would be with the ATA and for Sporting Clays it is the NSCA. You pay more money to shoot and there are different classes. A registered shoot usually have score keepers and you receive punches to move up in class by winning your division. For example this Saturday's prelim is $66.00for 100 birds. $6.00 goes to the NSCA and PSCA. the rest is split between the Club and the top three shooters in each class. Some shoots have no money back to class unless you do lewis which is a whole nother thing. We hosted the SCTP State shoot back in June , which all 220 kids had to be members of the NSCA. Those that never shot registered birds before got free memberships. The only club I know in northcentral pa that does registered shoots is Thunder Ridge. If you ever out this way check us out or Rock Mountain Clays in Susquehanna county.
