Peep Sight on Encore Barrels?

Anyone use one of the peep sights that are on some of the Encore barrels for deer? Namely the 500 S & W, 4570, and or the 460 S & W 20 inch rifle barrels.

I know a nice low powered scope or red dot would work fine on a 20 inch barrel but a peep sight?

How far can you shoot with a peep sight in the deer woods with let say a 460 S & W and be deadly?

Are they accurate or would the recoil of a 460 S & W cause it not to be accurate?

What are some of the positive and negatives of a peep sight in the deer woods?

As you go up through the more powerful calibers would the sight be useless? 45 Colt, 454 Casull, and 460 S & W?

Re: Peep Sight on Encore Barrels?

I have a scope on my 460 Encore, BUT I do use a Winchester Big Bore in .375 Win with a Williams Peep. I took a buck last year at just over 100 yards in open woods. I am very confident in the gun at that distance. I have shot in on paper to 200 but at that distance it gets sketchy, but I equate that more to drop than the sight.

Don't let our differences defeat us.

Re: Peep Sight on Encore Barrels?

I love peep sights a ton. It is my first choice, then regular open sights and then scopes. I have been moving away from scopes over the years to make things more simple and challenging.
