New for 2012

Who all has added to their single shot collection or has upgraded parts for the 2012/13 hunting season?

You can have it when you rip it from my cold, dead hands.........

Re: New for 2012

Purchased a TC pro hunter FX, added an older Burris signature scope electro dot 1.5x6, with luepold mounts and a encore base.
Also put a 3.5x10 luey on my TC encore.

Have a Shiloh Sharps (Business Rifle) in 45-90 on order and it should be here within the next 4 weeks.

Re: New for 2012

A bit off topic, Chris, why a 45-90? Most of the reading I have done indicates there is very little advantage over the 45-70. I have an unfinished 45-90 Martini rifle that I have been waffling back and forth about whether I want a 45-90 vs a 45-70.

Re: New for 2012

Bought a frame for my two contender barrels. One is a 35 Rem in 16" and the other is a super 14" in 30-30. Trying to buy a 16" 7X30 waters barrel but can't seem to settle on a decent price.
Dressed out the frame with a AR-15 type stock and handgrip. Replaced the extractor and spring on the 35 Rem, as the cases would stick.

You are right, for the most part the 45-90 offers no advantage over the 45-70 until you get out past 500 yards. This was not the reason for my choice. I already have a few 45-70's and just wanted something different. Pluse, I am shooting black powder. I have found with a lot of modern brass it doesn't have the volume that the original cases had.
