HR Ultra Sluh Hunter Scope ?????ss

Recently bought the HR Ultra Slug Hunter 12ga and am looking at adding the Nikon Slug Hunter with the BDC200 reticle. Has anyone tried out this combination? I'm getting mixed reviews on the scope reticle not working proprely. I have already purchased several boxes of the Hornady SST's for the range and their velocity seems to match Nikon's Slug Hunters specifications.

Also for those that have this combo were medium rings high enough to avoid the hammer from interferring with scope?

This is my first posts so take it easy on me,lol

I don't have that combo, but one thing i will tell you with the 12ga ultra is that it will test your mounts & scope do to the heavy recoil and being mounted over the chamber.I have the 20ga ultra had it since 1996 W/1x4 Leupold shotgun scope & Weaver wrap around mounts & locktited down.Never moved.Them 12's kick like mules!!!Good Luck

Re: HR Ultra Sluh Hunter Scope ?????ss

I have both the 12 and the 20, and the 12 has just a bit more recoil (the gun itself is heavier). Both have the simmons fixed 4x Pro Diamond on low mounts. With this scope you have plenty of eye relief; all you have to do is remove the scope rail from the gun and grind a small chamfer on the "eye" end of the rail. You might not get enough off on the first try but two should do it. Some black paint on the raw aluminum and you're in business. I don't know about the scope you are contemplating, but I DO know it works with the Simmons Pro Diamond. and like Buzzsaw says, the mounts take a beating so don't try to save $2 on them. Buy good mounts, lap them in and use thread lock. Good Luck!

Forget about the danger; think of the fun!
