Enought pistol for deer?

http://www.rossiusa.com/product-deta...adcrumbseries=

Wondering if this rossi 45lc/22lr/410 would have enough knock down power for deer. I Like the caliber choices this gun has. The .410 would be a lot of fun for small game as would the 22 for plinking. I wanted to get the HPA panel of experts Opinion for deer.

Obviously the Range would be cut down. I am also checking to see if you can mount a scope to it. The msrp is 357 but i found one for 259 new. Any thoughts and opinions?

Re: Enought pistol for deer?

I don't see why a 45 wouldnt be good enough for deer. A 45 is alot of lead. When did they come out with that? Sure is alot cheaper than a TC but i am sure the quality isnt quite what TC offers.

Common sense isn't very common these days!

the 45 colt is plenty for deer, especially if can reload for it. my son has shot deer with a 45 for 14 years and there never is any tracking involved. too bad they didn't chamber it for 3" shells.

The 45 Colt with 250-300gr bullets that should kill a whitetail. I noticed this outfit on the Taurus website and I think that is neat. Hey a reamer some cutting oil and one could have a 3" chamber. Also $259.00 does not sound bad at all. A 22lr for plinking, maybe a 17hmr barrel could be fitted to the frame.

I bought a Rossi wizzard last year, I call it my poor mans encore. I was waiting for this hand gun to start production thanks for the heads up.

Look at the Ruger Super Redhawk line. The Alaskan also!

Re: Enought pistol for deer?

If you reload, you can get fair power, but factory load are pretty weak

Re: Enought pistol for deer?

Here is a good comparison of the various 45 colt factory load offerrings: Note how low the Winch and Federal stuff is.

the next question is whether the gun and your wrist can take the hot stuff.

Interesting considering the Alaskan was designed for bear protection you'd figure the normal loads would be enough. Then again I've seen bear load ammo, so it must be made for a reason.
