What is the shortest barrel you can legally use on a contender carbine for hunting deer in pa?

16" with buttstock. If you're using a contender pistol without a buttstock, there's no minimum size.

The reference was to a Contender Carbine. Carbine's have a buttstock installed.

Re: contender barrel

But couldn't you just put a butt stock on the a frame that is registered as a pistol?

No it automatically becomes a short barreled rifle, and illegal per the ATF

Re: contender barrel

I was more referring to a carbine (stock & barrel), but on a frame register as a pistol. I've some legal jargon about the contender and this case.

Im pretty sure it still makes no difference.........once you get a barrel less than 16" it is not allowed to be in a carbine or rifle configuration, no matter what the frame is registered as........
