finally got my pro hunter

I've been wanting a pro hunter for awhile now, I finally bought one. Got it off gunbroker, got a combo in 22-250, and 12 guage turkey barrel all in realtree apg. Got a [censored] of a deal at $605

the thrill is not in the kill, but in the experience

Welcome to the Encore experience. I'll bet your 2 barrels will be begging for company before long.

The older I get, the stronger gravity becomes.

You did not get a good deal. If you got a receiver, stock set, and those two barrels. And they are Pro hunter's?? Then you stole it. You did not buy it. Tom.

Heck of a deal right there! I think I have easilly 3500 bucks into mine. Between the original frame, extra barrels, scopes, upgrades etc., It's amazing how quick you can get into the THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS with these things! Still...wouldn't want it any other way. Withing just a few minutes I can go from plinking and squirrels to the biggest animal that walk around North America. Single BEST platform for the money you can invest in and it truly is an investment!

Re: finally got my pro hunter

I picked the pro hunter for just that reason. I'm a rifle nut, I love shooting odd calibers and toying around with them. Rifles are just getting too expensive to do it so here we go, I can get a barrel and a scope and save a couple of hundred bucks.
I think I'm going to sell the 12 gauge barrel and forearm though, or trade it for a different barrel. I need another 12 guage like I need a hole in the head, but couldn't pass up the package.
Guess my first upgrade will be the trigger. What's best for these rifles a new trigger group or just change out the spring?
How about free floating the forarms?

Re: finally got my pro hunter

Only thing I had done was a trigger job on mine. Other than that the one is totally stock. The 7mm-08 and .223 PH barrels are both 1/2 MOA accurate or better. In fact the 7mm will clover leaf all day long at 100 yards with Win. 140 gr. PPs and the .223 has printed 1" groups at 200 yards with 50 gr. Ballistic CT reloads and I know it could do a tad better. The BIG thing I did was super clean the barrels before I even put one round through them and then I thouroughly cleaned them every 10 shots, no more for the first 30 rounds or so. I also did get the stainless, locking hinge pin assy. and always retighten everything using my torque wrench.
