6.5 Creedmoor

Anyone have one for a TC Encore? Been reading a lot about this round and like what Im reading. Im pretty close to putting a barrel on my Christmas list.

For anyone that has one who made your barrel, length, and thoughts? Oh yeah what are you using ammo wise for deer?

Re: 6.5 Creedmoor

I shoot a .260 with a 24" standard contour barrel by T/C that is compact and well-balanced. 120 gr. NBT ammo. I have 2 Match Grade Machine (MGM) barrels in other calibers and would recommend their work.

The older I get, the stronger gravity becomes.

Re: 6.5 Creedmoor

About 100% sure MGM will be my first custom barrel (6.5 or other).

Re: 6.5 Creedmoor

With TC quality down the drain since S&W has taken over i will not buy a factory barrel new..
if i wanted some thing i would like at some custom makers or for a used barrel at a good price.
SSK MGM are both great barrel makers.

Re: 6.5 Creedmoor

I was thinking the same thing about the 6.5 Creed. I am looking for a lighter caliber then my 30/06, to play with in my Encore. I was also thinking 6.8 Spc, 7mm-08 (cause the wife has one). Choices Choices Choices.... Definitely gonna be a MGM.

Would you care to elaborate on your opinion of S&W quality? From what I have seen since S&W took over it is not based on fact. While I also have SSK, MGM and Bullberry barrels for calibers that T/C does not offer I also have two Encore frames made since S&W took over. The fit and finish are equal if not better than my two pre S&W T/C frames.

Re: 6.5 Creedmoor

Was talking about there barrels.
besides the usual hammer issues with some here and there i've not heard one bad thing about there frames.
I have heard lots of different stories about the barrels they were making and most of all the customer service.
i recall a while back there was a stint with a lot of people saying the new tc barrels were made by a second party..
my own issues... with the barrels one pre smith and two post.
7mm mag was very lose frame to barrel fit i emailed them, they said send it back they sent me a new barrel.
two post were a 223 pistol barrel and a 7mm08 barrel.
the 708 would not hold any thing under 3 inch at 75 yards. with four different factory brands. the 223 barrel had the forearm screw hole off centered, i never had so much issues with customer service in my life. the one i sent back after fighting with them for 2 weeks and the one they sent back look like was a referb all scratched up and such the 223 barrel.
the 08 after sending the emails to the company i ordered it from they replaced it for me.
look at the new TC rifle line they just recalled every one of the compass.
i understand they need to cut here and there to make a buck.. but not at the cost of such things.
look at marlin after big green had taken over...
after i had such issues with the two barrels ill never buy a TC product again... maybe older used stuff but never nothing new again.

The 6.5 seems pretty impressive. There are a few factory offerings too which is a plus since I don't reload
