Barrel length

What lenght barrel do all you tc guys prefer? Looking at a 300 win mag and don't know if I should go with the 26 or 28". Main purpose will be a elk gun and a backup deer rifle

Re: Barrel length

None of my Encores are longer than 26 inch barrels, with most at 24 inches. That being said, because there is not an action to add length these guns are short by nature.
I think either the 26 or 28 will work well.
Good luck
Dave

Re: Barrel length

Thanks. I think I'm going to go with the 28 since you can't get 26 in ss without going custom. My next will be a mgm custom

Re: Barrel length

I never owned a Weather Shield yet.. Notice that the shorter the barrel you better have a good sling.. They tend to swing down on ya when your carrying them... I have some shorter than 24 incher..I do like the 24 incher but I think I would go with a 26/28 in the magnum calibers.. Notice you already own yours.. I truly enjoy using the Encores for fox, coyotes, and chucks.. I even have killed deer running with my only shot too.. So they just fit right no matter what barrel you use..
