Did you ever miss a deer because of single shot?

All my years of hunting deer... Now i'm knocking on wood...I have never had to fire more than the 1 shot.. I'm talking with bolt actions, levers, and pumps.. That's why single shot rifles seem to work just fine for me.. What about you?

No, and I never felt handicapped with a single shot,in fact I prefer them to repeaters for deer hunting. Love my contender carbines, and muzzleloaders.

Yes I have missed, but that would not stop me from hunting with a single shot.

Just this year during the early ML season my son missed a doe at under 40 yds. the deer did not run off. He was able to reload and connected with the second shot.

Good luck, Tony

I have missed. But rarely is there an opportunity for a second shot. I wouldn't think twice hunting with a single shot.

Re: Did you ever miss a deer because of single shot?

Yes,I have missed with my single shot. As I fired the shot, the action broke open. I have never had that happen before and don't recall hitting the release lever. I know that being left handed, my thumb is on the release lever side of the gun, but I never fire the rifle with my thumb even close to it. I had talked to some gunsmiths and they recommended filing something down. I am not going to try that myself, I want an expert to correct my issue for me as I do not want to mess it up more.

Nope....when I missed it was because I made a poor shot, never because of the rifle I was toting. Just sayin'.

I want to correct myself... I have missed deer with a single shot already.. It was with the flintlock.. My fault of course not being familiar with my Italian made LH flinter... It was because of the double triggers.
