I have H&R and NEF single shot shotguns and rifles. They can be rough at times cosmetically but are tough and reliable. With yours the shells will be expensive though unless you shoot 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells. I love single shot guns.

Re: H&R Single Shot Turkey 12 Gauge 3.5"

You should be able to shoot 2 3/4 through 3 1/2 through it.
It should be like any other 3 1/2 chambered shotgun.
The only problem I have ever run into was shooting a lot of
2 3/4 and not cleaning the shotgun and shooting 3 1/2.
My spent shell casing got stuck on the fouling and had to be knocked out. Case of being lazy. Doesn't happen anymore.
Cleaning habits much improved.

You can shoot 2.75 and 3" through the H&R 12 ga turkey. Look on their web site the 10ga is 3.5" only and the 12 ga is "up to 3.5" http://www.hr1871.com/firearms/shotg...dnerturkey.asp They kick like a mule and the 1 I had I never found a good load for so I gave up and sold it.

Re: H&R Single Shot Turkey 12 Gauge 3.5"

They are a fantastic light carry turkey gun and can shoot lead loads pretty well and hevi shot type loads extremely well. The only draw back is the recoil. You WILL notice it on the range but not so much in the woods. You can shoot any shorter length load in longer chambered shotgun as well. 3 1/2" chambered will handle 3" and 2 3/4" loads but not vice versa. The nice thing is, just because its CHAMBERED in 3 1/2, doesn't mean you MUST shoot 3 1/2s. Many 3 1/2" guns shoot 3" loads very, very well...

there should be a steel weight in the stock under the recoil pad to help with recoil. we took ours out and added a mercury recoil reducer instead. a gun that light with 3.5" shells is hard to handle, its worse than the recoil on my 458.
