Marienville District Announces Fall ATV Event
A special opening of the Marienville ATV and Timberline trails for leaf-peeper season has been announced. These two trails will open from noon on October 11 through 8 a.m. on October 15 to give riders the opportunity to view the area’s fall colors. All other ATV/Bike trails on the Forest will remain closed this weekend as the last day of the official season is September 29, 2013.
While the ATV/Bike trails are closed during the fall season, annual maintenance of the system occurs. “Accomplishing this maintenance in October and November takes advantage of the good fall weather and allows the trailbed to settle in before the winter riding season,” says District Ranger Rob Fallon. “If we can get the maintenance done now, the trails will be in better condition for winter riding and will hold up better through the spring melt-off.”
The winter season for the ATV/Bike trail system will open December 20, 2013, and run through April 1, 2014, weather conditions permitting. A trail pass is required to ride the trail system. For more information about the ATV/Bike trails and trail passes please call the Marienville Ranger District at 814-927-6628 or visit the following page on our website:
